14.00 - 15.00 → Contemporary photography as part of your everyday geography teaching
The stories professional and amateur photographers tell are part of our everyday geographies. Building upon a session at the 2020 GA Conference Teachmeet, this session offers an exploration of how the work of contemporary photographers influences our perceptions of people and place. Developing the critical thinking skills necessary to integrate photos and social media posts used in lessons will be discussed.

This session will offer an outline and discussion of uses of content available via the Financial Times free schools programme in teaching and student research, including its geography teacher picks and its regular student competitions with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).
