Richard Allaway

I have over 20 years of classroom experience.

I currently teach IB DP Geography, IB DP Environmental Systems and Societies and IB DP Theory of Knowledge at the International School of Geneva - Campus des Nations.

I am the online moderator for the International Baccalaureate’s Diploma Programme Geography Programme Community and the IB Exchange. I am also an admin for the IB DP Geography Teachers Support Group, an active Facebook group with over 2000 members.

I completed my postgraduate studies in Environmental Geosciences (BSc) at Sheffield University before staying at Sheffield University to complete a Geography Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education (PGCE).

I have been a Chartered Geographer (Teacher) since 2008. This is a professional accreditation for Geographers from the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), which recognises competence, experience and professionalism in the use of geographical knowledge or skills in and out of the classroom, and who are committed to maintaining their professional standards through ongoing continuing professional development."

I am an Education Consultant listed by the Royal Geographical Society.

I am the author of geographyalltheway.com, an established website of geography teaching resources with a worldwide network of subscribers.

Since June 2019, geographyalltheway.com has been a proud strategic partner of Discover the World Education.

I regularly contribute to the Financial Times IB Geography Class, where “recommended FT articles and tasks are picked by teacher advisers to help improve study, exam and interview success”.

I have a passion for integrating digital technologies into teaching and learning.

I am an experienced workshop leader and consultant. I live in France, teach in Switzerland and come from Yorkshire.
