Richard Allaway

I have over 20 years of classroom experience.

I currently teach IB DP Geography, IB DP Environmental Systems and Societies and IB DP Theory of Knowledge at the International School of Geneva - Campus des Nations.

I am the online moderator for the International Baccalaureate’s Diploma Programme Geography Programme Community and the IB Exchange. I am also an admin for the IB DP Geography Teachers Support Group, an active Facebook group with over 2000 members.

I completed my postgraduate studies in Environmental Geosciences (BSc) at Sheffield University before staying at Sheffield University to complete a Geography Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education (PGCE).

I have been a Chartered Geographer (Teacher) since 2008. This is a professional accreditation for Geographers from the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), which recognises competence, experience and professionalism in the use of geographical knowledge or skills in and out of the classroom, and who are committed to maintaining their professional standards through ongoing continuing professional development."

I am an Education Consultant listed by the Royal Geographical Society.

I am a nearly weekly contributor to the Financial Times' IB Geography Class column, where recommended articles and tasks are selected by teacher advisers to support study, exam and interview success.

I am the author of geographyalltheway.com, an established website of geography teaching resources with a worldwide network of subscribers.

Since June 2019, geographyalltheway.com has been a proud strategic partner of Discover the World Education.

I have also built EE Coach, an AI-guided tool that helps IB students develop their Extended Essay research questions, and Revise, an AI-supported revision and exam preparation platform for IB Diploma students.

I have a passion for integrating digital technologies into teaching and learning.
